I highly recommend M83 - Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. The whole album is good, but the tracks that stick out for me are Intro, Midnight City, Wait, Raconte-moi une histoire, Soon My Friend, Another Wave From You, Echoes of Mine, and Outro. Look up the lyrics and have them on screen when you listen. If you've been depressed lately, I promise you these tracks are very cathartic to listen to.

EDIT: meant to post this in the music suggestions thread, but it gives you an idea of the music I'm into anyway. I like all kinds of genres, electronica, psychedelic, rock, post-rock, metal, rap, anything at all that just sounds good and brings up emotions. Taken into that kind of consideration, the genre doesn't really matter.

Honeybee

It comes and goes for me. I have moments where I focus on mostly one genre or band, and then completely forget about it for the rest of the year until I eventually rediscover it. Currently it's 90s rock, baby. Smashing Pumpkins, Rage, even Oasis, the whole 9 yards.

Oh, forgot to say what it means to me. Uhm...stuff I listen to, I usually associate to a memory of when I was really into it, or heard it the first time. In this case it reminds me of a past relationship. So that's that.

NotMe

I let Apple Music create playlists for me and find a lot of music that way. In this way, I got turned onto a lot of Japanese punk bands and K-pop. I also like South American dance beats.

Arielle

I love Nirvana, Mother mother, cults, and other indie music :)

EDM/electronic, rap/hip-hop, pop

Specifically example: UK dubstep+American brostep, all kinds of house; trap+emo rap+soundcloud rap, 90s west v east hip-hop; electropop+synthpop, alt-pop.

Funny thing is I listen EDM/electronic as a response and a reaction to how downhill rock fandom has become especially modern rock fans. I have to deal with culty LGBTQ+ community or pedo/groom debates or Twitter-like users (can easily find them on TikTok and especially these Gen Z which is my generation lol) yet i don't see or VERY rarely encountered on EDM/electronic environment. The fanbase or listeners is so different like it's a different world/planet. God (or whatever i can't see with my eyes) gave me this as an replacement and i believed him since cause i become more happy and more freedom.

The most "safe" genre for me is EDM/electronic. While rap/hip-hop and pop are in-between (depending on the scenario).

I still listen to rock+metal+punk+indie+alternative occasionally. If i use that POV/perspective, my fav are metal+punk rock (and all of its sub-genres like post-punk or thrash metal etc.), indie/alt rock (like shoegaze, britpop, grunge, "college rock"). I knew tons of bands and i had listened to it for 17 years. But still, fuck them for fucking my old genres and caused me to leave the scene and sacrificed my old music personality. Bands like Arctic Monkeys & Deftones and genres like slowcore & shoegaze got the the worst offender from this.
Don't listen and care what the world says to you.
