I wouldn't consider them Doom, but yes, they heavily influenced a lot of the Doom trademarks and some of their songs can be considered very Doom-esque.

But I don't like this kind of "genre talk". It's a never-ending discussion.

One thing I enjoy in music is lyrics about rejecting the 'normal', banal working/middle class lifestyle.  Songs that mock a culturally imposed ideal of retreating to suburbia and working a mindless job to raise a brood of spoiled shitheads while distracting yourself with a small handful of lame hobbies really speak to me.  Songs like this exist in many genres and span half a century at this point.
From the Beatles' "Ob-La-De, Ob-La-Da" to Styx's "The Grand Illusion" to last decade's "Steady as She Goes" by The Ranconteurs, which contains the great lyric, "You've had enough to think, now you need a wife."  I am intrigued by the idea that people essentially give up on exploring their humanity once they "settle down" and let their world revolve around their family.  When you make it into your 30's unmarried and childless, you see it happening all around you; friends, family. coworkers.  You see them transition from interesting, independent, fun people to boring moms and dads.

I am drawn to songs like this even as I feel myself being inexorably tugged closer and closer to that type of metaphorical cul-de-sac.  It's all the more interesting because this phenomenon that I enjoy mocking is also pretty much essential if you want to raise children.  They become your entire world and if they don't, it's super hard to do a good job raising them.  There is a lot of rewarding aspects to training another generation of humans that can't be denied.  From my perspective, though, it seems like it comes at the expense of one's own personal growth and intelligence.  People with families go along with a lot more bullshit in society because they got kids to worry about and they can't afford the time and effort to take a deep dive on so many issues that affect them.

I know these are odd thoughts for a pedo.  It sounds like I'm making an argument for not having children, but that's not quite it.  I am merely fascinated by the idea that having kids greatly increases one's tolerance for bullshit the same person might not stand for if they were single and childless.  When artists articulate this with a good beat, I am in.
It's never so bad that it can't get worse.

I mostly like rock music, but as I get older I tend to mellow out a bit.  I love a good piano player in any style.

Marilyn Manson is a personal favorite of mine, Muse could also fit that description.

A thought on the issue of stagnation, the "nuclear" family, being moms and dads, no time for bullshit. Where is it written that humans collect in pairs of two to mate and organize child rearing? To me it seems funny that the ideal image presented in the west is a hetero pair of two with kids, almost like an eternal struggle to occupy the middle aged productive population. Extended families are useful to provide child care or other services for each other, in business it's called specialization. Why should two people be responsible for making the world go round? I think this sort of collective behavior has been conditioned out of us, but it would explain the variety of sexual orientations and social identities.

I am torn by that decision, part of me says I'd do it instantly, but I can't be sure at this point if I'd really be willing to give it all up.

I  like songs or bands not a category. Momentarily is it Ra the Rugged Man, Celtic Women, Fahrenhaidt and one of my all-time favorites EGOIST.
I write in English but when it is nonsense, it is a fantasy language that resembles English and make sense.

I like almost every kind of music (except opera and classical). Music has always been important to me. The best part is, no matter how your feeling, someone has written a song about it. Listening to music is how i unwind. I would have to say my favorite kind would be, the golden oldies.

im really suprised to see how many different music tastes we have here.

as for me i love depressive suicidal black metal, athmospheric black metal and ambient. But i used to listen rock music before i was into metal. Also i prefer slower and softer kind of metal. I rarely listen the brutal ones.

The only black metal i have really gotten into was the band "mayhem" but even then i didn't really like it. Black metal is pretty brutal though i put it in the same category as slam and stuff like that.

I have really taken a turn in my music taste. So I'm pretty deep into synth pop, new age, but also rap. Empire of the Sun, Die Antwoord, Kendrick Lamar, to name a few. Very different than Marylin Manson, System of a Down, Disturbed kick I was on for a long time. Though I find a common thread in what OTR said previously, its a walking away from standard values in my view.

I'll also say that Die Antwoord is a rap group that has a very candy doll feel, and perhaps some on topic appeal. Ugly Boy is a good starting point, the music video is great and has an appearance from the dark lord MM <3

TheFrgt10

I listen to darker music than most, Korn Linkin Park (the darker songs), MM, Metallica, some other rock bands and stuff like that.

The music I listen to describe what I feel and describe who I am

Like for instance some of the songs I like describe (liking little girls, and being fucked up) and I surely am that for sure.
