If there's interest we can fork this into a separate topic, but I wanted to leave this link here in support of this chain of thought:

I spun up this thread if anyone wants to continue this discussion.

For the gl's I recommend Hilda. It's not anime, but more of a regular animated/cartoon show available on netflix. It's so well done. Fun stories and great writing. Of course I love the character of David, but the girls are great and adventurous. Worth watching imho.

That's a great recommendation. It's adorable; I've binged it already!

I'm actually surprised at myself for not having thought of looking it up. I'm usually an avid consumer of r34 material. :lol But Hilda is just too pure... Which actually makes it better... Argh!

I've been warned that this thread has been dead for over 180 days, though I can't help myself to at least attempt to revive it, 'cause it started out so lively that it would be such a shame, if it were to never be reanimated again...

So right off the bat, if I'm not mistaken, I've read someone mention 'Seraph of the end', which I remember having enjoyed, but not finished, I think.

Now to some of the ones I appreciated the most:

It's been nearly a decade since the last time I've watched 'Samurai Champloo', but it had a very positive and lasting effect on me, perhaps due to the general vibe that it has and of course it's visuals and to me very enriching and fitting soundtrack.

A very impressionable, though unfortunately short anime series I'm glad to have stumbled upon is called 'Shigurui', which deals with ambition and the maintaining of dominance in martial arts in past japan, at it's core, I guess. The atmosphere and probably to add to it purposefully implemented slow pacing of it all really got to me and the sounds of the churping cicadas somehow still haunt me in a wondrous though good way to this day. Writing this piece makes me actually want to rewatch it again.

One movie that got stuck in mind is called 'Ninja Scroll (1993)'. The seemingly immortal antagonist by the name of Himuro Genma (if I recall correctly) had a lasting effect on me, not just by having been decapitated and then suddenly reappearing again. Drawn and or animated art can be so much more less limited than the majority of alternative media, wouldn't you agree?

Another movie, while we're at it, that I've more than enjoyed goes by the name of 'Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba – The Movie: Mugen Train'. Rather not keep up the habit of explaining every title, so if you like the action/fantasy-type, there's a high chance you'll more than like this one.

To not keep on going on forever; I'll just leave you these IMO gems for consideration:

Tokyo Ghoul (series and movies)

Tower of God (just beautiful to me)

God of Highschool (nice action, OST and obvious influences (especially towards the end))

Goblin Slayer (wonderful protagonist involved)

Drifters (stranded in strange times, aren't we all...)

Steins:Gate (time's a strange thing, don't you think?)

Death Parade (on a more serious note...)

Monster Musume (for those us filled with lust, of course)

Berserk (only watched a few, though it seemed very promising to me)

Invincible (last but not least; a western cartoon that's surprisingly violent for those of us who like that)

If anyone has watched any of those, I would really appreciate their view and take on it.

Steins:Gate (time's a strange thing, don't you think?)

Steins: Gate is the only one I've seen which was VERY good and Luka(ruka) was the inspiration I had at the time when I came out as wanting to be a girl.

Here's some personal favorites some might enjoy or wanna watch.

Eureka Seven (Only watch the original series.)
(Slow pace, Teens fall in love, 50~ episodes, Alien Bio-Mechs.)

Soul Eater
(Comedy, Action, Kids either wield weapon-people, or Transform into weapons to be wielded.)

Death Note
(Slow, crime drama. Honestly one of my favorites still.)

Code Geass
(Mechs, Teens, British empire rules the world, Mechs & a scene of a 16 year old masturbating on a desk. 10/10 )

.hack//Sign
(MMO tries to kill people. Very-Slow pace, Slice of life, mystery drama.)

Noragami
(Comedy, action. God fucks around and finds out with a 16 year old chick that She ain't having his shit. - Afterlife life is the life of a weapon to purify evil spirits....)
