I was at a playground with some relatives, just having fun and relaxing. All of a sudden, a furry walks up to the playground, holding a bunch of balloons and waving to the kids. This is in a conservative, small town. I've never even seen a real furry in person ever, so seeing one in the full attire is jarring and totally unexpected. But the way he was holding balloons and waving to the kids felt surreal, like they were literally filming a scene about stranger danger. It took all of thirty seconds for the other parents to notice and call the police, who promptly came and ordered him to leave (he wasn't arrested though). So the whole event lasted like twenty minutes tops and was without any incident. I don't even think that many kids saw him. But still, the whole thing was absolutely bizarre. He had to have been a pedo, but a really stupid one (and maybe on drugs)

Yeah, that is pretty bizarre. It does sound like either a pedo or on drugs, but most likely both. There are other explanations. Like someone dared him to do it, or it was being secretly filmed for youtube. Creating something to laugh about with friends later. Maybe he had the mental age of an 8 year old, and thought this would be a great way to make friends, his mom not realizing how this would turn out when she got him the costume.

It also just occurred to me that I did something similar earlier this year. You just need to do it the right way, because I definitely didn't have any problems, dressing up as an animal, playing with balloons with kids, and being friendly to everyone. No problems when I was sober, and no problems when I was on multiple substances (drunk, high, and tripping). There is just the right time and place for everything, a lesson this guy clearly needs to learn. Read the room, bro.

That sounds jarring. Wow. Wonder if that was someone possibly on the spectrum who couldn't make that judgment call?

Yeah, I was lucky not to be arrested that day. I had planned this all year long and thought FOR SURE kids would be running to me in slow motion to grab a balloon and stroke my tail. The parents would be clapping and laughing with their little ones. I had even printed up some business cards to hand out for upcoming birthdays. Even learned a couple of magic tricks. I don't understand why everyone freaked out.

Someone could possibly get away with that on Halloween, which we just had. There were many adults dressed up in places that I wouldn't have imagined. Nothing went wrong from what I saw but it was kind of weird seeing adults do that in public places.
