After reflecting on my comment, I came to think maybe yes, it's very possible to have that much CP. If he was collecting for many years and kept every single thing he found. I was thinking more of what I consider child porn, which is very different from what LEA would think. For me nudists and simple posing pics is not real CP. LEA has a much different view. They now see almost everything with a child a CP. Even non sexual pics and vids of toddlers taking a bath. Which the parents were thinking were very innocent, can and is usually labeled as CP, depending on who has them. I never think of nudist pictures or videos as pornographic. LEA think differently there as wel.

So, if someone was to DL and keep hrs of HQ FKK Nudist videos, plus all the LSM and other child nude modeling or even non nude child models. That can really add up. So, I gess it's possible to have nearly that amount, but I still think the article is misleading to high degreel

Back in the 1990s, I knew a guy who had a hard copy collection that may very well have been this large were it to be digitized.  Shelves and shelves of it on VHS and DVD in his basement, plus countless magazines and collections of stills from as long ago as the end of WWII up through the 1980s.  He was fairly elderly already when I knew him and he always said that he intended to burn it all eventually so no one would find it when he passed away.   We lost touch and I assume that is what happened.  He was not interested in giving any of it away or selling any of it.  His fear was always that the recipient would be caught with it and spill the beans on where it came from.  But, wow, what a collection.  It went across the spectrum of all types of CP.

You just have to think that even if RindXXX kept all their stuff on a local server, I don't think it would if amounted to 60TB. That's a lot of DATA.

But with CP sites of this era we are living in, they don't actually host most of the porn themselves. People upload password-protected compressed files to third party hosts.  So for sure a site like Rind would have been way, way smaller; like a thousand times smaller than this guy's alleged 58 TB stash.

50+ TB is very, very easy to do. I picked up a 14TB drive for $190 at BestBuy a year ago... sizes have gone up and prices have come down since. All you do is connect 4 of those on a Raspberry Pi, insert an SD card with a basic Raspberry Pi OS installation and you have a giant, empty warehouse waiting for content.

50TB of DVD quality video comes out to 4,660 hours. Is there any doubt that there are more than 10,000 30-minute CP videos out there in some form?  I'd bet that digitized old content from VHS/Beta tapes, 8mm films, plus the currently online material, and new content being produced would easily exceed 500TB...

Anyone producing their own content would easily use more. I used to help out community theaters with recording their shows and with 2 HD cameras and an audio recorder I'd have 20+GB of data just on one show alone. Working with a single 4K camera and you're at 45GB per hour for the raw data, then there's the editing, sub-clips, graphics, previews, final renders...

Heck, I filled a 10TB network attached storage box in a week downloading from a gay (non-topic) torrent site back in 2016.

I guess my question is, what did he do to get caught? Let's grant that he had 58TB of actual content. It must have taken many, many years to amass such a collection. He must have been careful for a very long time.

Where the fuck could you store 58 GB! In old kazaa and edonkey times I downloaded hundreds of vids and thousands of pics and never barely approached to 500 GB. I bought two expensive hard drives for create a big collection and never filled them. Now I prefer not collect, just download-jerk-delete.

Anybody knows where is stored now this evidence? A friend asked...

Well, it's not impossible. Linux's limit of partitions is 60. This also means 60 hard disks, each of 4 TB space - that's the maximum size of a hard disk (not SSD) I have even heard of. He had 58 TB, which is roughly 15-18 hard disks. Considering some of the videos with Polly I recently found were at least 4GB in size and she's not the only girl out there with videos of her own, it's not that hard to fill 58 TB.
Frankly I'm more surprised not by the total size of his CP, but where the hell did he put at least 15 hard disks in the computer case?! My PC case is big but damn, it can't fit more than 8 hard disks, unless I find a way to remove the PSU and go without it. :

If he were really professional, he'd have a server rack and stream everything to his PC inside his home network.

What's more likely though, is that he had a shit ton of HDDs lying around, many as backups, and he'd just swap them in and out as needed.
I knew a power collector from my town who had a collection in the lower TBs that was just like that.
He had close to 100 drives of varying sizes, many of which he said he never even looked at, he'd just give to pedophiles he met and they'd upload their collections to. He probably had a shit ton of duplicates.

Once a person gets to that level, they are collecting for collection's sake.
Downloading a bunch of stuff they don't even like, just so they have something to trade with others who do.
Or downloading whole sets of a girl they only like one picture of.

I had a friend who got the entire Candydoll collection, 650GB.
Still, he only ever looked at Laura and another girl.
