Time flies when we don't want it to, doesn't it?

I just noticed how quickly time goes on. I saw a post of mine here on PSC from september 1st. I was like - wait that date is wrong, that's impossible, it's 29... oh yea, it's not wrong, actually, I've been here since august, so... Jesus, how fast can time go?
I just didn't see any of it going by. Ok maybe the last week was distracted by talking to a girl but, what about the rest of it...
But I also know that when we want time to go fast, it doesn't.

Do you also feel like your time is flying way more than it should?

The perception of the passage of time is inversely proportional to how engaged you are in something. ;)
It's never so bad that it can't get worse.

Too bad the thing I'm engaged in is wasting my life sat down at the computer for whole days straight and sleeping...

Robotboy

This month flew. I was super busy in my personal life which might be part of the reason why. I was either taking classes, at work, or sleeping for the most part.

It's almost time to wake up Billie Joe Armstrong and it felt like September just started.

it sucks that time just runs away on us when we are enthralled in something we enjoy, but when we don't, it ticks away at our soul.
Sometimes we think we knows what the right thing is, sometimes we know what the wrong thing is, and sometimes both are things we need

itsover

Yes, I feel exactly like this. Also as I get older the rate of change in perception of time accelerates too which is terrible. Literally months are flying by.

I have so little time.

LikelyHuman

Lmao I don't know whether to pity or envy those whose time-scape passes by in intervals less than a year.

I feel like a decade goes by for me within the blink of an eye, and I literally remember when I was 3 years old.

What I have found, is that every year that goes by, time seems to pass quicker. At 10 years old, time was going at 2 years per 1 year. At 11, it was going at 3 years per 1 year. At 20 it was going at 10 years per 1 year, and now since then on it seems to be speeding up. I see someone have a kid and think, "Congratulations," and the next thing I know their kid is 15 years old.

I don't know, it's like Steve Miller said... Time keeps on slipping into the future.

Would not surprised if tomorrow I wake up and I am 60.

I vote for a resolution that forbids time of going quicker when we're happy! Enough automated cheat engine! :(
Last bit is real and...sad.

Yep, terrible. Absolutely. It's like a death race, literally. To be alive is to be dying...

I'd be terrified...

People so many times tell me to just live and one day the things I want to (love? babies?) will show up - no, I'm sorry, the clock is ticking, it's a death race, I need to go and at least try to pursue my ultimate goals right now, and I strongly encourage anyone to do the same, not to be waiting for any kind of golden opportunity. A year is not just a year, is 1% of a human life, which is still limited.
Now all of you, go there and LIVE: pursuing the things you want the most. And when you reach that, you go there again and you go after another dream of yours. Life goes on too fast, make sure you don't waste it all :D

And as I say this I'm the one here who wastes her own life more than any of you.

Laddie

Each year goes by faster and faster. The saddest part for me, is I'll fall madly in love with a LG then it seems she grows up so fast and I lose interest. It's terrible, feels like you've lost somebody. The girl you once knew and loved isn't there anymore.

That's kind of relatable. They grow up so fast. But if you get to witness them growing up you can kinda still see the little girl in them, at least that was the case with me and Rachael. Although she is now 19 years old I still see that eager little 12 year-old cutie in her.

:P
And I was alone yet not lonely because in my heart there was the energy of that one girl who means more to me than any human being ever did before.

I want to add another thought here, as i feel it fits well.

Has anyone ever felt like time passes more fast when you are getting older? It might be as when you get older new experiences are getting less... so things tend to get less intense at times (yet a lot more stressfull also). But i always wondered if it is a thing or not.

Hell yes, you're not the only one with this experience. I can't put my finger on why it  is like that but I have definitely noticed it.

There's actually a reason for this. When you are 1 years old and you experience another year you've doubled your lifespan. When you're 50 years old and experience a year you've only increased your lifespan by 2%. It's all relative to the amount of time you've experienced in your life. At 50 you have to live to 100 to experience the same subjective passage of time as a one year old does as he/she ages to 2 years old.

for sure i do! it always seems like ill say "next week ill hit the gym or respond to that wedding invitation ect." next thing i know its been 12 weeks and i still havent gotten around to whatever it is i needed to do lol

That seems as true as it seems terrifying... Jeez.... Stop the clock now please.
