I have always had this wondering inside my head for a while, but are there any pedophiles that are attracted to only kids on TV and other media (real kids, not art by the way) but has no affection when they meet kids in real life? I thought about this because there are people who are attracted to a person's online presence but act differently when meet that same person face to face.

I think what you're getting at is the portrayal of a persona. Actors act. So do people online, including here. The idea is to get your attention. But in reality, people aren't like that nor do they often live up to our expectations. We tend to put children on a pedestal here at PSC, but in reality they are loud, selfish, vicious little animals.

We did the same to women until we realized they are every bit dysfunctional beasts as we men are. I'm a vehement anti-feminist, but the one good thing that came out of it is that we no longer think every woman is Mary Poppins.

Part of what you're experiencing could also be due to social anxiety- the fear of, oh fuck I'm actually meeting this person.

I find it rather interesting. People's tendency to fawn over facade, that is, yet not many of us fight against it once we realize what's beneath the mask.
