So I went grocery shopping. I usually go tomorrow and in the morning but my schedule changed recently. I decided to go today. I was on the aisle looking for food then noticed 2 guys who were shopping for food. One of them looked familiar. In my head I was like " that looks like that rapper. It can't be him. Why would he be here in the middle of nowhere shopping for food. " Then I just kept looking at him and noticed a jacket he was wearing that had the state where he is from which is from where I am originally from. Then he passed me and I saw his face. I then asked him " hey can I tell you something. You look like that rapper " then he said " I am " and it was the same voice I heard before in his music, youtube, etc... He's been in a lot of movies too and some tv shows. I was like " What! " cause I couldn't believe it and he smiled and continue shopping. Then 2 minutes later I saw 2 people saying it's him and took pictures. What I was about to tell him was going to be even more meaningful because I was raised and used to live in the same town he was raised in. I told him I'm from (state) and (name of town) then he said " that's wassup " and said the name of the region and then the name of that town. I asked him if it's okay if I can take a picture of him and did with his shopping cart. Then I said " Thanks. I really appreciate it. " then I noticed he was going to the refrigerator area where I was going to get my juice so I decided to go to the other side of the building and look for something else there so it didn't look like I was stalking him. But when I came back minutes later he was leaving and I was walking and he could see me from far away so he continued shopping. If I followed my normal walking pattern we would have been next to each other shopping and probably at the self check out at the same time. Now I am looking at the picture and I can see some of stuff he bought.
The part where you altered your normal path through the store after the meeting makes me laugh, because it's so true. When one is grocery shopping and hitting up most of the aisles, you tend to see the same people over and over again as you pass each other. So to have a cool encounter and then to keep passing each other would have been super awkward. :lol

Very nice! Very cool, even! I've never met a rap star. However, back in the 70s, I was having an affair with a gorgeous girl (think a Cameron Diaz type) who, after nursing school, became Dionne Warwick's personal nurse for awhile. She introduced me to Dionne once, but the singer was in a heroin fog, and wasn't very conversational.
Anyway, like I said, cool experience!
I have never met anyone famous butt I was close to one once. I managed to get a back stage pass one time at a rock concert. It was a outdoor concert. The band "10 Years After" was on stage, as I was standing by the stairs going up to the stage a gold Cadillac pulled up and Alvin Lee the guitar player for 10 years after got out and walked up the stairs to the stage. I was close enough to touch him but I didn't. I thought that was pretty cool. 10 Years After was a very famous band back then!! This was about 1976.
Heh, I had a moment like that once. Like you, I was in the grocery store, and kept looking over at a guy. He noticed me noticing him, so I went, "Sorry, you really look like ____." He just smiled and said, "Oh, what a compliment. That guy's a handsome fella." Then later on in the week I heard on the radio he was doing a show in town and it clicked that it really was him and he was just playing it super cool.
I am not sure if they would qualify as famous, but I remember meeting a local tv host in a similar situation years ago. I was simply doing my grocery shopping when I spotted her with her children. I would have assumed since she worked the early morning shift she would have been in bed by now, but there she was that day. We simply exchanged a few hellos, and since I was surprised I did not really take time to notice her kids.

Totally off topic but the main reason my grocery store pathing changes is to increase the viewing of a Loli. Sometimes it's fairly extreme and I think to myself "Why am I bothering to just to get a glance at a kid I will never see again." Then I just tell myself it is good exercise and do it anyway.

A decade or two ago I was introduced to a popular Mexican guitarist through the family of a girlfriend and at the time no idea who he was. She was gushing and I'm like eh? Not familiar with this guy. LOL (He's a name many might recognize depending on which generation you're from)
